In the Pre-Prep, children use Ruth Miskin’s, Read Write Inc. programme.
This carefully selected, award-winning scheme is continued through to Prep 2 and includes highly structured lessons in phonics and reading. All EYFS children who are learning to read do so on a one-to-one basis daily. This ensures that every child is given an opportunity to meet their full potential. Support from home is expected and communication is vital.
Reception pupils read regularly to adults and, they are also supported by their Prep 6 buddies, who come into the classroom to listen to them.
Parents are encouraged to listen to their children read at home in the evenings as often as possible.
