What are the weekend activities for boarders?
Boarders enjoy a full programme of weekend activities, with something for everyone.
Activities vary each weekend and can include, for example:
- Go‑karting
- Cinema trips
- Shopping or town visits
- On‑site games, sports, and creative activities
Year 10 and below are expected to take part in at least three evening activities per week (a mix of boarding and after‑school activities). Weekend activities are mandatory for this age group. For Years 11–13 weekend activities are optional, but strongly encouraged. Some specific events and activities are compulsory for all years, for example certain on‑site community activities or occasional off‑site trips.
Some activities incur an additional charge, which is added to the school bill. Tickets and bookings are normally non‑refundable, and late notice of non‑attendance may still be charged, as places will already have been booked.
Boarders attend Mass in Sherborne on Saturday evenings (service usually starts at 17:30). Mass is obligatory for Catholic boarding pupils. Non‑Catholic students are welcome to attend if they wish.
