Where is Leweston located?

Leweston School is located in the Dorset countryside, three miles outside the historic town of Sherborne.

The school sits in around 50 acres of rural Dorset parkland, in the heart of Hardy’s Wessex, about two and a half hours from London and just over an hour from Bristol by road. Sherborne is on a direct train line to London Waterloo, making the school easily accessible from the capital and beyond.

Sherborne itself is one of Dorset’s most beautiful towns, known for its medieval buildings, nationally famous Abbey, and two castles. It appears regularly in film and television and remains a lively market town with a farmers’ market, independent shops, and a busy local community. More information about Sherborne, including places to stay, is available at:

Leweston is also only half an hour from the Jurassic Coast, England’s first World Heritage Site, and close to Dorset’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as numerous museums, galleries, National Trust properties, and nature reserves.

Many pupils join Leweston as their families relocate to Dorset, and the Admissions team is happy to advise families who are new to the area:
