What does it mean if my child has a 'concern' on the Portal?
A “concern” on the Portal is a brief note about a low‑level behaviour issue that staff want to share with you; it is not a formal punishment.
The concerns feature allows staff to record short comments about minor behaviour incidents, for example:
- Talking while the teacher is talking
- Being impolite or unkind
- Not following simple instructions
In most cases, a pupil will receive two verbal warnings before staff feel the need to log a concern.
The concern itself does not carry a sanction; its purpose is to keep you informed so that home and school can work together if needed.
Leweston has high expectations for pupil behaviour, and we monitor concerns for patterns over time. A single concern is not a cause for alarm and is nothing for children to be unduly worried about, but repeated concerns will be addressed with the pupil and, where appropriate, with parents.
