Can parents request that their child is not in a dorm with another student of the same nationality?
We try to avoid placing pupils from the same country in the same room where possible, because we know this can help with language development and integration.
However, room allocations are a delicate process and must balance the needs and requests of all boarders, including existing UK boarders and long‑term international boarders.
Depending on the number of pupils from each country in a given year, it may not be possible to promise that an international pupil will share only with English‑speaking pupils but they may be in a room with boarders of a different nationality to their own.
Dorm groups are always carefully assigned, taking into account pastoral needs, age, friendships, and the overall balance of the boarding community.
